The shipyard
ARGO BOATS was founded in February 2004 by Ben Lochner. The
company uses 25,000 sq. feet premises located in Strand just
35 km East of Cape Town.
The USA partner of ARGO is M2 MOTOR YACHTS.
Located in Rhode Island, M2 is dedicated to the art and science
of power boat design, as well as yachts marketing and sales
in the USA. M2 and ARGO work together with logic and passion
to create boats that are technically advanced as they are
beautiful.
ARGO BOATS establishes a production shipyard for Fast Power
Catamaran and is confident in building the ultimate in production
and custom-made motor boats up to 90 ft. Argo is very familiar
with all the latest Composite Technology and “Pre-Preg” material,
building yachts in accordance to the highest international
standards and techniques, with the ability to also handle
the finest in hand crafted wooden interior work and fit outs.
In 2005 the SA Challenge for the Americas Cup 2007 has chosen
to use the facilities of Argo Boats in which to construct
their race boats.

- M2-60' a new Power Catamaran designed by Scott Jutson
- FARR International (USA): Farr 395 IRC sail boats
BEN LOCHNER (Founder and Technical Manager)
Ben has been the Project Manager on various international
projects. He has applied himself to all the fields of boat
building from conceptual design and working drawings to project
and production management. He worked as Manager and Technical
Director at three yards before founding ARGO BOATS.
SCOTT JUTSON, Australian, who headed his own firm Jutson
Yacht Design for over 20 years in Sydney Australia. Scott
is well known as the designer of some of the most efficient
and beautiful long range power catamarans on the water today.
He is a co-founder of M2 MOTOR YACHTS.
PAUL MIHAILIDES, USA, is a sport fishing enthusiast and owner
of high speed and luxuries catamarans. Paul, co-founder of
M2 Mortor Yachts, brings the consumers’ edge to M2 MOTOR YACHTS
and ARGO Boats. He also has many years of experience in marketing,
finance and development. Paul’s great business success over
the years is the final compliment to our team.
